A Peek At My Week! #18

Good morning, friends and fans!

Welcome to another “Peek Into My Week”, a behind the scenes look into the (I hope) interesting events occurring in my daily life!

August 30, 2021.

For the most part, my weeks are the usual ensemble of dreary routine events – work, book marketing, finding time to write, highlights, lowlights, tinkering on Dolly (my 1962 Beetle and daily transport), arguing with my wife about dinner, tripping over cats, or rearranging the furniture – but just occasionally something interesting happens, interesting enough to want to tell someone about!

Here then, for your enjoyment, is my recollection of noteworthy events in my past week!

While I’ve been posting these journal entries, it’s probably come to your attention that while I’m a writer I’m also just an ordinary person with an ordinary everyday life, and ordinary everyday person problems! That’s all I ever hope to be, no matter how much success I achieve as a writer! That said, let’s take a look at the past week – excuse the occasional rants!

Overall it was a fairly quiet but busy week!

Wednesday:

Wednesday the 25th was a special and yet sad day for me – it would’ve been my mom’s Yvonne’s 87th birthday.

My mom died in October 2013, and although it still feels like it was just the other day, I find it hard to believe it’s really been 8 years. She was my best friend, my rock and my support throughout my life and I miss her terribly. I believe I said it all already in my 2013 eulogy.

Friday:

On Friday I spent my online time catching up on that bane of the writer’s existence – marketing! I’ve created a lot of profiles on a lot of author marketing sites over the years – and often enough it’s necessary to check that the information they provide is still valid or accurate, to update book titles or covers, and then of course those all-important url’s and links to my website, books on different sales platforms and what have you. It’s no use, after all, if people find your profile on some obscure book listing website and then the link to purchase your book has expired!

Saturday:

Because the weather was rather cold and crappy on Saturday, once I got home from a few errands in town, I snuggled in for an afternoon on the couch under my laptop! I updated a few more of my profiles online and also added a couple of new ones on sites I found while researching. Marketing and self-promotion is a vital part of any author’s efforts to build a following – and since I’m at heart an introvert, it’s not easy for me to essentially shout to the world “buy my shit, it’s awesome!” …but of course, my shit is awesome – buy it!

Sunday:

On Sunday morning I awoke to some awesome stuff in my inbox – sent to me by my friend Brandon Mullins, CEO of Moon Books Publishing! What he sent me was the new audiobook cover for “The Time Saving Agency” – and a trailer video he made for the upcoming soon-to-be-released audiobook! Here they are for your enjoyment! I’m very excited about this, and look forward to announcing its release, which should be within the next couple of weeks!
I also nearly finished laying the greenhouse floor by Sunday afternoon, using the concrete slabs I mentioned in the last “Peek”! Turns out I was just two short to finish it all the way to the end, but I’ll get two sometime soon and slot them in! At least Kay can use the greenhouse now!
That’s all for this time! I hope to have more good news to tell you soon! In the meantime, have a great week and I’ll chat to you again soon!
Until next time, keep reading!

Cheers!
