Good morning, friends and fans!
Welcome to a “Peek Into My Week”, a behind the scenes look into the (I hope) noteworthy events in my life – June 13, 2022!
Here are some things that happened in my life this past week:
News About Writing & Publishing:
Progress On Some Fronts, None On Others
As I mentioned some time ago, there are still two obstacles preventing me from completing the process of republishing all my books via my KDP account: the first being the closing of the books on Moon Books Publishing’s KDP account; and the second being a letter (on a Moon Books Letterhead) which I have to supply to KDP for the titles they deem “duplicates”. Quite a while back, Brandon’s widow Elizabeth committed to tackling both matters for me, but unfortunately, almost a month later, I still can’t tell which books have been taken down, and I’m still waiting for the letter to turn up in my inbox.
Honestly, at this stage I’m just coasting and going with the flow and couldn’t be bothered to get upset by the continued delays in getting this issue sorted out. Stress is a killer, and I’m the sort of person who would get worked up into a stroke over being disappointed by other people… Instead I’ve opted to just adopt a wait-and-see approach and to put all the remaining upgrades and uploads off until the day I’m informed it’s all been done. In the meantime, I still have new books to write – and after all, that’s what it’s all about for me: more for the writing than the publishing and the marketing!
Several weeks back as you may recall, I published a new book in Galaxii: “Sentinel“, book 4 in the series. I’ve also been working on some other incomplete projects. For example, “The Song of the Drillipede”, the final story for the next Panic! Horror In Space volume, is rapidly making progress! “We All Fall Down” will contain three episodes of PHIS; “Dust“, “The Song of the Drillipede”, and “Hotel No-tell”, and in spite of not being finished yet, is already over 60k words long! “We All Fall Down” will also replace the standalone version of “Dust” released two years ago as the third installment in the series.
I could make up a dozen reasons why I’ve decided to do this, but the brutal truth is that at one stage I thought I should just release the individual stories in Panic! as standalones, but once I’d released “Dust” I changed my mind. There you have it in a nut-shell. The title “We All Fall Down” alludes to the children’s rhyme “ring a rosie”, which has some bearing to the stories in this volume. As soon as I’ve finished “The Song of the Drillipede”, I’ll let you know to keep your eyes open for “We All Fall Down”!
What I Got Up To This Weekend
Not terribly much, sorry! I did manage to get a little work on the house done on Sunday, in the form of putting up a ceiling rose in the parlor. I gave it a little detail painting treatment first though, because who wants to stick up a bland boring white object anyway? To make a long story short, I replaced the tacky old 70’s light fitting with a more age-appropriate Victorian light fitting – which then meant I needed a ceiling rose to finish that off properly! I think it turned out really nice – what do you think?
That’s all for this week!
With that, I’m all out of news. As always, I’ll keep you posted about any further developments.
Cheers!
