Good morning, friends and fans!
Welcome to a “Peek Into My Week”, a behind the scenes look into the (I hope) noteworthy events in my life – July 18, 2022!
Here are some things that happened in my life this past week:
News About Writing & Publishing:
Carrying On Writing, Regardless
This is the current state of things:
- Still no updates re the process of transferring Brandon’s KDP account to Elizabeth,
- the rights to the books published via MBP can be returned to me via letterhead once that is completed.
- I’m still working on the final story for the next Panic! Horror In Space volume, “We All Fall Down”, which will contain three episodes of PHIS; “Dust“, “The Song of the Drillipede”, and “Hotel No-tell”.
Last week I reported that my favorite narrator, Darla Middlebrook had received the manuscripts for the “Panic! Horror In Space” series and was gearing up to begin recording the audiobooks via Spoken Realms, starting with book 1: “Static“. It subsequently came to light that that report may have been a trifle premature, as her mailbox appears to have been rejecting emails with documents attached! We’ve been communicating about this over the last week and hope to have the matter resolved soon! I’ll update you about this as soon as there’s any developments.
I took the last week off from writing, but will get back to it today. The break should give me more perspective when I tackle “The Song of the Drillipede” yet again!
I Got A Mention in Sci-Fi Fantasy Network Article!
Not only that, but I was also listed along with six other local writers and Lauren Beukes (arguably the most famous writer on the list)! The article really made me smile – it made me feel appreciated, which for a writer struggling to get her feet in the door, is always nice. 
Here’s a relevant excerpt from the article below:
“Poet, artist, D.I.Y.er, human rights activist, editor and prolific author, Christina Engela, hails from Port Elizabeth, South Africa. In addition to her fifteen horror, fantasy and sci-fi novels, she has published novellas, short stories, children’s stories and non-fiction (How does she find the time?). I’d like to mention that since the article was published, Galaxii gained a fourth title, “Sentinel“. Quantum is also not just a 6 part series, there are at least 3 more titles already in process. Lastly, I really enjoyed Geoff’s remark “How does she find the time?” 
What I Got Up To This Weekend
Over the weekend, in keeping with the recent DIY theme of light fittings, I finished and fitted the ceiling rose for our bedroom to complete the Victorian/Edwardian period theme of our home! In the kitchen, I replaced the old florescent light fitting with an integrated LED unit which is as bright but more economical on the ESKOM. I still need to repaint the ceiling as you can see. I also cleaned and repainted an antique clothes iron I picked up at the scrap dealer I visited a few weeks back.
