Good morning, friends and fans!
Welcome to a “Peek Into My Week”! Here’s a look at some of my latest news: March 27, 2023! Here are some things that happened this past week.
News About Writing & Publishing: This Is The Current State Of Things
Let’s take a look at the current status quo on various ongoing issues affecting my writing or publishing:
- Writing: Last week, I managed to get back into “Underground Movement“, book 7 in Quantum, and took it from just over 45,000 words to more than 52,000 words. This might seem like a lot in a short time, or that the story is being rushed – I assure you it is not. I’ve been working on these stories piecemeal since 2017, so it’s just now that some of the next ones are nearing completion. At this rate it will be finished soon. In the meantime, because the next few books (7,8 and 9) overlap and intersect, I’ve decided it best to finish all three of them before releasing them – just so I don’t paint myself into any corners! Fortunately, the others are already partway-written, so it’s not as if I’ll be starting from scratch! As it continues the story arc from “Prodigal Sun” and “High Steaks“, it’s a fairly dark storyline – and in this one it starts to get a whole lot darker – you can’t joke about seriously evil things like genocide after all – but there is still plenty of opportunity for the heroes and heroines of Deanna to shine, and drop the occasional funny. This means I have to draw on a lot to get the balance of everything just right. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it when its done.
- Articles: Last week, I published the following articles: “Amusing, Odd & Funny Last Names For Your Characters“.
- What Readers Say: I’m not sure, I can’t please everybody – drop me a line and let me know how I’m doing?
Other Stuff:
This past week it seems I’ve been watching the world going mad yet again. The rise of rampant transphobia in the USA, where transgender people have become the focus of the neo-Nazi right wing and the target of domestic terrorist groups like the “Proud Boys” and of politicians and lawmakers who have been pushing over 300 transphobic bills into law through various states in the union, is most disturbing indeed.
“Triggered”
It is conceivable that the backlash against what is called “wokeness” – otherwise known as being a decent, compassionate and intelligent human being – is a reaction by the heartless, brutal and cruel elements of Western society against being expected to care about the wellbeing of others around them; they lash out in their ignorance and stupidity, choosing targets based on old hatreds and their own insecurities, reveling in their selfishness and what power and time remain to them – but they will be assimilated in the end because they are few, and fewer every year. It is a matter of evolution. They are the past. We are the future. This is their last gasp.
Events around the world in many ways mirror what happened in Japan with the rise of Kawai – initially there was a resistance to change – a retreat towards tradition, but it too weakened and eroded away. Today, Japan is ahead in catering for the welfare of others and for embracing neurodivergents and diversity in general – and the proliferation of their astonishing technological prowess and advanced society is the result. Tradition has its place – as a tool, not a weapon, as a guide, not a law. Religion does not dictate law or social norms. Kindness and consideration towards others is the highest law. The West is behind, as usual, but it will get there too eventually. Crapitalism’s days are numbered.
People are changing, they are conscientious, they care about their environment more than money, they care about happiness more than a career or success or meeting the expectations of previous generations, they care about animals, they care about other people and what happens to them more than they do for selfish artificial belief systems and the norms of faceless, soulless societies.
The end of short-sighted wanton human selfishness, superstition, stupidity, cruelty and brutality is nigh. Hold out, we outnumber them. Hold on, it’s only a matter of time. Tick tock, baby. Tick tock.
That’s all for this week!
As always, I’ll keep you posted about any further developments. And remember:
In spite of some of my books having been on Amazon since 2005, not one of them has yet reached 10 reviews on any platform, let alone 50! I would really appreciate your help on this! Come on, leave a review – it’s free!
I wish you all a pleasant week until next time!
