Good morning, friends and fans!
Welcome to a “Peek Into My Week”! Here’s a look at some of my latest news: April 10, 2023! Here are some things that happened this past week.
News About Writing & Publishing: This Is The Current State Of Things
Let’s take a look at the current status quo on various ongoing issues affecting my writing or publishing:
- Writing: During the past week, I finished the draft-edit of “Underground Movement“, book 7 in Quantum, with a wordcount of 60,740 words. For the past seven years, I’ve been crafting this current story arc set within the Quantum Series that takes the quirky characters and residents of the planet Deanna through their darkest, most uncertain times yet!
For the past seven years I’ve been crafting a story arc set within the Quantum Series that takes the quirky characters and residents of the planet Deanna through their darkest, most uncertain times yet. With the first two books in that story arc already available (books 5 and 6), and the third (7) only just completed and awaiting publication – and the last two are still in the works, I thought I would give you a little more detail about the story being told across these five extraordinary books: Read “The Quantum Series: Coming Soon!“.
The completion of book 7 is a milestone for me, so yes, I’m really excited about it, but in the meantime, I’ve also been working on books 8 and 9, which continue the same present story arc. Book 8, “Xanadu” and “The Last Hurrah” (book 9) are coming along nicely, with increases in their wordcount daily. Both are currently over 20,000 words each! But at least I’m enjoying it!Meanwhile here are the new covers for the three new books, coming soon!
- Articles: Last week, I posted “The Quantum Series: Coming Soon!“.
- What Readers Say: I’m not sure, I know I can’t please everybody – so drop me a line and let me know how I’m doing?
Other Stuff:
Here’s a few of the other things that happened this past week:
It’s All Gone Tits-up
So, to be clear, I was told on Saturday morning that the Main Post Office in PE – which is literally less than 1km from my home, cannot process ANY vehicle related transactions (license renewals, registrations, scrapping etc.) until further notice. Apparently they’ve been “blocked” – whatever that means.
Instead, almost unbelievably, I was referred to the Uitenhage Post Office, about 100km away. Yes, seriously. Apparently other, nearer, still functioning branch post offices across the city are also not doing vehicle-related matters right now either. Plus, the post office as a department nationally, is currently under liquidation. Joy of joys.
And I’d first have to come in on Tuesday just so they can check if the papers have been approved by calling “head office” (I’ve been calling the numbers they gave me to no avail since February), and if they have been, they’ll hand me a physical paper file to take with me to Uitenhage PO to get the vehicle registration certificate printed there. Or, maybe try the Sidwell traffic dept., the lady said. Also try the Linton Grange PO, maybe they’re working.
So rather than get my business done on a Saturday morning, I’ll have to ask time off from work – again – just to sort out something that should be a simple over the counter transaction. It’s hard to be upset at someone who can’t help you due to no fault of their own, and still tries to assist in whatever way she can.
This is what we’re up against in South Africa today folks. If the ANC governments’ own mechanisms for processing their own damned red tape and admin necessary to keep the machinery running are failing like this, how fucked up must the rest of the story be behind the scenes, that they’re not telling us?
FUBAR. The last wheel is coming off.
Here’s The Irony
That’s all for this week!
As always, I’ll keep you posted about any further developments. And remember:
In spite of some of my books having been on Amazon since 2005, not one of them has yet reached 10 reviews on any platform, let alone 50! I would really appreciate your help on this! Come on, leave a review – it’s free!
I wish you all a pleasant week until next time!
