Another Round @ The Crow Bar #21 September 2018

Hello friends and fans!

Welcome to my 21st newsletter: September 2018! Coming up in this edition of Another Round @ The Crow Bar:

Regular updates, new releases, and a monthly spotlight on one of my books, this time, the new release of “Lange’s Legacy”.

You might notice a few subtle differences in this month’s newsletter. These have been made necessary because I’ve started to build a mailing list – which I’ve been told is vital for an author to build their brand, and so there we are!

On that same topic, right at the bottom of this newsletter, there’s a sign-up form where you can – well, sign up to my mailing list! I really hope you do, so I can send you my updates, new releases, news and freebies direct to your inbox!

On the 28th of August I finished writing a short story called “Goodnight, Mr. Gleeb”. I’m not really sure what I’ll be doing with it just yet, but it will probably go into my next short story collection “Space Really Sucks!”

I’ve also been working on “Self-Publishing 101“, non-fiction book about getting self-published from South Africa. The working title has changed to “South African Self-Publishing 101”, but might change again before going to press. This book is a collection of my thoughts and advice regarding my experiences in the writing business so far. I’m not sure about the release date on this yet, as I’m still waiting for a response from First National Bank to an inquiry I made about the process of linking PayPal to a South African bank account, before I can wrap that can of wriggly worms up! I’ll probably give them a few more days before blasting them on their Facebook page for not responding to my email for over two weeks!

Moving on, this time under new releases, I’ll be telling you about “Bang! Splat!” – a video for once, and not a book!

On with the show!

New Releases

In August, I was very proud to present my very first short animated film: “Bang! Splat!“: A children’s story …for adults! “Bang! Splat!” is based on “Innocent Minds“, and features some of the characters from my Quantum Series of novels – namely, Dr. Gleichstein and his little dog Vluffy. Dr. Gleichstein is a quantum physicist – and as everyone knows by now, quantum physics is a little like ordinary physics, except that you spend a little more time looking for your eyebrows.

“Deanna is a quaint planet, home to odd-ball quantum physicist Dr. Gleichstein and his little dog Vluffy… and a few uninvited guests.

The Herr Doktor and Vluffy are faced with quite a conundrum – even bigger than the Doktor regularly losing his eyebrows. Their home is overrun by mutant two-headed cockroaches – and not even a hammer will stop them! However will they solve this problem?”

On 14 August I announced the release of “Christina Engela’s Book of Candid Quotes“, a free downloadable ebook containing a large number of quotes.

Many of these come from my activism days when I wrote and shared articles almost daily to address various social injustices on local and international stages.

I think they’re pretty good, so I decided to share them with the world.

I hope you enjoy them, find something thought provoking, and share it as well.

Currently Available Titles:

The Galaxii Series

The Quantum Series

About The Quantum Series will give you more background about the series, its settings and characters. To get a better idea of what the latest two titles are about, read What Readers Can Expect In “Prodigal Sun”, “High Steaks”, “Fortitude” & “The Last Hurrah”.

Work on the next four titles in this series, (“Underground Movement”, “Moon Jockeys”, “Fortitude” and “The Last Hurrah”) is still pending at this time.

Panic! Horror In Space

Panic! is a sci-fi/horror series, which will have some decidedly sci-fi characters encountering some decidedly horror entities – ghosts, haunted objects, zombies, etc. along with my usual twisted brand of humor! The first three titles are available in paperback and ebook versions on various distribution platforms including Amazon and Lulu.

Afrikaans Titles

Some of my titles have been translated into Afrikaans – but as you could imagine, it’s a full-time job – and when you use translation software “sickbay” comes out as “Telaxian stoofpot” instead of “siekeboeg” – so you could imagine!

On A Personal Note

  • Fan Mail & Honorable Mentions

I display my Fan Mail & Compliments with pride, gratitude and humility. You are always welcome to have a look.

  • Hate Mail & Horrible Mentions

I’m rather proud of my hate mail, and you can review it here – but be forewarned, don’t do it while eating or drinking or you might choke while laughing at it!

  • Interviews

On 16 August, GaySA Radio asked me to send them a voice note wishing them a happy birthday, which I thought was very sweet of them! The snippet will be compiled with a lot of others from other South African LGBT celebrities, and played on the occasion in October.

If you would like to do an interview with me about my works, please do get in touch!

  • New Videos

Have a look at my videos on my Video Channel for book trailer videos, interesting snippets, and other information.

Support The Author

Although most titles listed are available in paperback and/or ebook formats through most online retailers internationally, Christina prefers readers make their purchases via Lulu. This is because while all retailers charge the same price to YOU the reader, Lulu gives the author the largest portion of the proceeds from your purchase – which is really, really important if you’re the author! 🙂

In Closing

Well, that’s all, folks! 🙂

Thanks again for all your support, friendship and interaction! Until next time, keep reading!

Cheers! 🙂
