Description:
The painting shows a glass suspended in mid-air. It is a representation of the question “is the glass half empty or half full?” and in this case, the glass is tilted and its contents in turmoil and on closer inspection the upper half (now at the lower position) contains the water and the bottom of the glass (facing upwards) the air. Each of these substances contains an element of the other; in the water there is a bubble of air and in the air, a drop of water – evoking the yin-yang symbol – and the symbolism of the occult statement ‘as above so below’ – as well as invoking the underlying meanings of these associated principles: BALANCE in all things.
