Get Ready – It’s Time To Panic!

Hello friends & fans! This is a brief introduction to my third sci-fi series: Panic! Horror In Space!

“Panic! Horror In Space” is series of satirical sci-fi horror misadventures in deep space with the crew of the starship Mercury – which, of all the starships in the elite Terran Space Fleet, is probably the unluckiest ship in history…or, perhaps the luckiest – depending on your point of view!

Panic! Is a sci-fi horror parody set in the Galaxii Series universe, using many of the same settings, references and background material.

There are currently 3 titles in Panic!, with several more in the pipeline, so readers hoping for the release of new titles shouldn’t despair! View Coming Soon to see new titles still in the pipeline!

“Of all the starships in the Terran Space Fleet, the I.S.S. Mercury is probably the unluckiest ship in history. Not once, not twice, but many times over, the same hapless crew – give or take a few dozen casualties – on a supposed voyage of deep space exploration, stumble into the weird, wake the creepy and trip over the downright terrifying and possibly even supernatural…”

Panic! Horror In Space is several different things at once: a sci-fi horror series, and also a parody or satire of all the horror movies and paranormal investigator TV shows you can think of, all scrambled together to make for very clever, entertaining reading! There are the obvious horror plot twists and plot devices, silly airheaded blond people whose hover-cars won’t start in the parking lot after midnight, or who try to run away on impossible high heel shoes, and the dashing brave young skeptics overdue for a date with the hungry entities in the basement of the abandoned mental hospital. Panic! has a whole universe of nasties at its disposal, as well as tangible tension and suspense!

Books in the series have received wonderful reviews from readers and reviewers alike:

Page turning space sci-fi full of chills and fun from beginning to end…‘

“I’ve mentioned before that I enjoy space science fiction quite a lot and my go-to author of that genre is Christina Engela who once again provides another awesome series but this one contains some chilling but fun spills that begins with ‘Static’. The ‘Panic! Horror in Space’ series is well worth a look for some awesome Halloween spooky goodness.” – Lee Hall, UK writer & reviewer in “Spooky Season Book Recommendations 2“, Oct 26 2020.

Book Review – Static: Panic! Horror in Space Book 1

“All things considered, Static: Panic! Horror in Space Book 1 provides amusing and light-hearted action within a science-fiction setting, sprinkled with the odd spooky scene and a strong comic current too.” – J.D. Keown (for Night Terror Novels), May 24, 2021.

Books in the series are available in eBook and print! You can read more about the series here. Titles in the series are displayed below:

(Book 1) “Static”

While on a routine deep-space mission to chart the frontier of unknown space, they stumble across an apparent shipwreck that poses quite a mystery. How had the Kilgary – a cargo carrier last seen light years away forty years before – reached that part of space before the Mercury? Why couldn’t the cause of death of its crew be determined? What was in the deleted log entry of the Kilgary and why had it been deleted?

The last thing Captain Stuart Flane expected while working to discover the answer to the enigma of the Kilgary, was a day-long running battle with the undead! Their troubles didn’t end there though, because the Mercury their only ride home was also in trouble!

(Book 2) “Life Signs”

While on a routine deep-space mission to chart the frontier of unknown space, Captain Stuart Flane and the crew of the Mercury encounter an alien marooned in a ship wrecked on the surface of their long-dead world – but is the alien really all that they seem to be?

Did the shuttle the Mercury recovered in deep space – the one that turned out to be the last remnant of a starliner that disappeared thirty years earlier, hold the key to the puzzle? Would Flane be able to sleep that night if he found out? And, as if all that wasn’t enough to jeopardize Flane’s already shaky hold on reality, the Mercury is sent by Admiral Tawney himself to help out an old friend who has difficulties with a cursed object!

(Book 3) “Dust”

At a remote starbase, a long-lost ship missing for 63 years mysteriously appears out of the black. There’s no sign of the crew or any clue what happened to them. Plates of food are laid out on tables in the mess, a shower was left running, clothes laid out on beds – it’s like all 57 crewmen just disappeared – or took a walk out an airlock. The ship’s only shuttle is still in the hangar bay, unused and in perfect condition. On the bridge, the throttles are still wide open – indicating the ship had run until it ran out of fuel.

Captain Stuart Flane of the starship Mercury is called in unwillingly, kicking and screaming, to investigate the mystery of the ghost-ship Amundsen – but will his skeptical superiors approve of the outcome? Come to think of it, will he?
