Have You Read The Quantum Series? You Should!

“The Quantum Series carries a consistent theme throughout all six of it’s stories; that being inclusion no matter how different one is or where they come from. Whether you are human, alien, plant or anything else in between. No matter your beliefs, non beliefs, orientation or anything else that may set you aside and make you different.

Christina Engela’s stories in this series champion that and it’s an important modern cause to stand for in literature. She manages to do and say that without being preachy and while also and importantly telling fun, action packed, sometimes quirky but always enjoyable stories.”

“Have you read the Quantum Series? You should!” – Lee Hall, writer & reviewer.

“Black Sunrise”

Book 1

“A fun and enjoyable quirky multi-character story that carries an important message…’ That message which is intertwined with some action, comedy, and overall fun is all about diversity and inclusion. There’s even a talking plant!”

“Overall I found this story enjoyable with a positive message that puts the ‘conscience over paycheck’ concept into practice. There are some parts I found to be genuinely funny while in other moments it was thought provoking.

Seeing as this book is a part of the wider ‘Quantum’ series I will be sure to check out the others.

5 Stars” – review

“The Time Saving Agency”

Book 2

“A highly enjoyable time travel caper…”

“Overall ‘The Time Saving Agency’ is a fun read which sees the ‘Quantum Series’ taken on an unexpected journey of time travel while also continuing the journey of the characters seen in the previous book in the series (‘Black Sunrise’). The narrative is delivered with a sophisticated level of humor and sometimes sarcastic wit that never allows for a dull moment.  4 Stars ” – review.

“Dead Man’s Hammer”

Book 3

“Suspense, drama and modern issues all of which are tackled in a fun but important way…

As the Quantum series unfolds, it grows more and more impressive. Dead Man’s Hammer is proof that Christina Engela can build an established world and insert so many genres into it along with retaining a unique style of writing that not only tributes her influences but has a way of confiding in readers.”

“Suspense, drama and even tragedy are ways that I would describe the journey this story represents, not to mention that crime-mystery theme along with some more important issues that these books are not afraid to tackle; as much as this sounds heavy, it’s a fun read! Throughout Engela’s writing style naturally flows and is fun to read. 5 stars.” – review.

“Loderunner”

Book 4

“A fun tale about the perils of voyaging through space to earn an honest buck with a meaningful important message…”

“From the early stages of this story Christina Engela makes great efforts to not only tell a story with wide appeal but also includes a powerful inclusive message about the subject of transphobia and embracing who you really are on the inside. “

“What ensues is a story with a powerful meaning along with the usual fun moments Engela is known for, space stories really are her specialty and the setting makes the writing feel very much at home. 5 stars.” – review.

“Prodigal Sun”

Book 5

“Fun, quirky and most probably the strongest of the Quantum series!”

“As the story unfolded it became more and more gripping as events turn for the worse. Sheriff Peggy Ann-Muller may well be in over her head even if she does express exactly what is going on through a powerful quote ‘Anyone else want to be on the wrong side of history?’ Powerful is probably the one word which sums up the plot of ‘Prodigal Sun’ but as usual there is way much more happening.”

“5 Stars – Great read.” – review.

“High Steaks”

Book 6

“An epic ensemble of characters fighting for the importance of inclusion…”

“The Quantum Series carries a consistent theme throughout all six of it’s stories; that being inclusion no matter how different one is or where they come from. Whether you are human, alien, plant or anything else in between. No matter your beliefs, non beliefs, orientation or anything else that may set you aside and make you different. Christina Engela’s stories in this series champion that and it’s an important modern cause to stand for in literature. She manages to do and say that without being preachy and while also and importantly telling fun, action packed, sometimes quirky but always enjoyable stories. It’s also what is being fought for in this book.”

“Quite late on I realized this wasn’t going to be the final book of the series, at first I felt a little disappointed but then elated that what will follow if there is a 7th which will be one hell of a culmination and I am more than interested in reading.

Overall I have very much enjoyed reading the books in this series. They are fun, quirky, imaginative and their biggest quality is that the style and the way they read is very much accessible to pretty much anyone. I highly recommend the Quantum series to everyone!

5 Stars – Fun and powerful.” – review.

Awesome Sci-fi On A Budget!

Two brand new editions of “Black Sunrise” and “The Time Saving Agency” – books 1 and 2 in the Quantum Series by Christina Engela – are now available (along with the entire Galaxii Series)!

“As I’d explained previously, my project for 2019 is to revise and reformat the Quantum Series to the same stringent standard as I did to the Galaxii Series in 2018!” Said local Port Elizabethan writer Christina Engela proudly. “The first two titles – originally written in 2005 – have already been completed and are already available!”

What is the Quantum Series about? Well, it’s sci-fi with a touch of fantasy, it comes with interesting, believable characters – good guys and villains, and a couple that are hard to place – and the stories contain a lot of “heart”… Told in Christina’s own unique style, these books come loaded with what she calls her “warped sense of humor”… which tends to get readers who didn’t see it coming, around corners with a solid left-hook! Her writing has been compared to Douglas Adams and even to the great Sir Terry Pratchett (Focus Mid-South Magazine).

August Update

You may have been wondering what I have been up to lately… and as usual, the answer is ‘up to no good’! Since my former publisher and I parted ways in May, I have re-released all of my previously published works, including three titles in the Galaxii Series and over the past few weeks, four in the Quantum Series. I am currently busy finalizing the cover artwork and illustrations for “Innocent Minds“, a rather unusual little story that falls somewhere between sci-fi, humor and children’s stories… because it is a children’s story for adults!

What is a ‘children’s story for adults’? Well, it’s a pseudo-children’s story with some more mature content  and humor aimed at adults… with illustrations.

“Black Sunrise” – Quantum Book 1

Black Sunrise‘ is the first title in the Quantum Series by Christina Engela – a writer described as ‘that rarest of authors – able to seamlessly blend together elements of dark horror and sci-fi to create stories that will stay with you long after the last page has been turned.’ (Mark Woods, author of ‘Time of Tides’ and ‘Fear of the Dark‘). Her writing in the sci-fi genre has been described as ‘one of the most unique and captivating styles I’ve encountered in science fiction.’ (Alex S. Johnson, author of The Doom Hippies.)

This being sci-fi, ‘Black Sunrise‘ is set in the distant future, on a Terran colony world called Deanna, which has a charm of its own. The lead character in this first story in the series is Cindy-Mei Winter, a former CIA (that’s Colonial Intelligence Agency) agent. She’s a transgender woman who comes to Deanna looking for her own little share of happiness, but the rest of the universe just keeps getting in her way. Mei has much in her past she would prefer to forget and write off to having happened to someone else, not her – and wants to start over in life. In her male life, she was a go-getter – ambitious and effective in her work, but now she prefers to live and let live, to remain anonymous and under the radar. When she first arrives on Deanna, only a few hours before a long-absent alien foe of the human race arrive to invade the small backwater Terran colony, it becomes crystal clear that life has other plans! Creativity Unleashed! – My Return To Self-publishing

2016 Facebook Quantum.jpgDear fans,

If you’ve been keeping up with my recent news, you will already know that the two titles in my Galaxii Series as published by JEA will be coming down from Amazon soon, and that I have elected to go back to the self-publishing route I followed before in order to make all my works available again.

This decision has now culminated in the re-release of several titles in the Quantum Series (1 to 4) a novelette and a collection of short stories. More

Catch Them While You Can

Good morning, friends 🙂
Those of you who have been following current events in my life and writing career will know that my publisher (JEA) has downsized and cut out all non-horror writers and titles from their listing, meaning that my publishing career is now essentially lying on the cutting-room floor!
I will be seeking a new home for the three Galaxii Series novels already with them, as well as my dad’s short story anthology “African Assignment“.
In the meantime, you may also remember that “Bugspray” (my book about VW Beetles) was published a few months ago by LightBearer Publishing, based in Midrand. You may also recall that I recently announced splitting my Galaxii series into two new series (the Galaxii Series and the Quantum Series) in order to make adding more titles easier for me. LightBearer has been busy editing and formatting “Black Sunrise” – the first title in the Quantum Series – for a while, and that should be released soon. Meanwhile, I am negotiating with LightBearer about taking on the Galaxii Series as well, once I have received all the work files from JEA.
The items published through JEA are still available on Amazon.com (although I don’t know for how long) so if you’re looking for what is sure to be a ‘limited edition collector’s item’ in future, you know where to look! (On my Amazon page).
