Awesome Sci-fi On A Budget!

Two brand new editions of “Black Sunrise” and “The Time Saving Agency” – books 1 and 2 in the Quantum Series by Christina Engela – are now available (along with the entire Galaxii Series) on GGG mall, a local digital content provider based in the Eastern Cape, South Africa!

“As I’d explained previously, my project for 2019 is to revise and reformat the Quantum Series to the same stringent standard as I did to the Galaxii Series in 2018!” Said local Port Elizabethan writer Christina Engela proudly. “The first two titles – originally written in 2005 – have already been completed and are already available!”

What is the Quantum Series about? Well, it’s sci-fi with a touch of fantasy, it comes with interesting, believable characters – good guys and villains, and a couple that are hard to place – and the stories contain a lot of “heart”… Told in Christina’s own unique style, these books come loaded with what she calls her “warped sense of humor”… which tends to get readers who didn’t see it coming, around corners with a solid left-hook! Her writing has been compared to Douglas Adams and even to the great Sir Terry Pratchett (Focus Mid-South Magazine).

Christina’s books are available on GGGmall for R30 each as epub format downloads, and the website caters for visitors who wish to see prices in USD  ($).

New Release: Quantum – Keep Off The Crabbygrass

The Quantum Series – Keep Off The Crabbygrass” is an omnibus of The Quantum Series titles 1, 2, 3 and 4, containing “Black Sunrise”, “The Time Saving Agency“, “Dead Man’s Hammer” and “Loderunner”.

Due to the variation in international markets and differing distribution marketing requirements, it has been necessary to reissue some titles in various series in different print formats. As a firm believer that the 4.25 wide x 6.88 tall “pocketbook” size is the appropriate size for “real” novels, I find it disappointing that some international distributors do not accept this size, favoring the 6″x 9″ format instead. It is larger for one thing, and as a result decreases page count, making books that were traditionally “long enough” to pack a decent-sized novel in the proper size, seem much smaller and less appealing in the 6 x 9 format.

At 452 pages of value in the new format, the print paperback copy containing the first four stories in the Quantum Series still works out cheaper (by HALF) than buying all four titles separately! Hopefully the new size will allow bookstores in South Africa to start stocking this title on their shelves soon! “The Quantum Series – Keep Off The Crabbygrass” is available only in paperback and the original separate titles in pocketbook size – as well as the separate ebook versions will continue to be available.

Crisp, Quality Books Delivered To Your Door!

This morning my bell rang, and I opened the front door to find a Fedex courier holding a delivery for me from the Netherlands! One modest-sized package, containing – what? Why, a copy of one of my own books of course!

I’ve been buying one of each of my books – after all, it just wouldn’t do to not have at least one of each of them on my own shelf, would it? Anyway, so this morning I got a copy of “Black Sunrise” – in very nice condition too – perfect, in fact!

Lulu’s print quality is quite simply brilliant! The cover is glossy, thick, and the colors bright and every line is crisp and clear! The pages are brilliant white, the print clear and perfect – and it smells just like a freshly printed book should!

Having already received copies of “Blachart” (2 copies), “Demonspawn“, “Dead Beckoning” and “Space Vacation“, I have absolutely no doubts about the printing quality of Lulu’s books, or the reliability of their delivery system!

I can’t wait to get my copies of “Space Sucks!“, “The Time Saving Agency“, “Dead Man’s Hammer” and “Loderunner” – they’re next!

So don’t you fret, don’t delay – head on over to the Crow Bar to order one today!

August Update

You may have been wondering what I have been up to lately… and as usual, the answer is ‘up to no good’! Since my former publisher and I parted ways in May, I have re-released all of my previously published works, including three titles in the Galaxii Series and over the past few weeks, four in the Quantum Series. I am currently busy finalizing the cover artwork and illustrations for “Innocent Minds”, a rather unusual little story that falls somewhere between sci-fi, humor and children’s stories… because it is a children’s story for adults!

What is a ‘children’s story for adults’? Well, it’s a pseud0-children’s story with some more mature content  and humor aimed at adults… with illustrations.

Black Sunrise – Book 1 in the Quantum Series

Black Sunrise Print

‘Black Sunrise’ is the first title in the Quantum Series by Christina Engela – a writer described as ‘that rarest of authors – able to seamlessly blend together elements of dark horror and sci-fi to create stories that will stay with you long after the last page has been turned.’ (Mark Woods, author of ‘Time of Tides’ and ‘Fear of the Dark‘). Her writing in the sci-fi genre has been described as ‘one of the most unique and captivating styles I’ve encountered in science fiction.’ (Alex S. Johnson, author of The Doom Hippies.)

This being sci-fi, ‘Black Sunrise’ is set in the distant future, on a Terran colony world called Deanna, which has a charm of its own. The lead character in this first story in the series is Cindy-Mei Winter, a former CIA (that’s Colonial Intelligence Agency) agent. She’s a transgender woman who comes to Deanna looking for her own little share of happiness, but the rest of the universe just keeps getting in her way. Mei has much in her past she would prefer to forget and write off to having happened to someone else, not her – and wants to start over in life. In her male life, she was a go-getter – ambitious and effective in her work, but now she prefers to live and let live, to remain anonymous and under the radar. When she first arrives on Deanna, only a few hours before a long-absent alien foe of the human race arrive to invade the small backwater Terran colony, it becomes crystal clear that life has other plans! 2016 Facebook Quantum.jpgDear fans,

If you’ve been keeping up with my recent news, you will already know that the two titles in my Galaxii Series as published by JEA will be coming down from Amazon soon, and that I have elected to go back to the self-publishing route I followed before in order to make all my works available again. This has now culminated in the re-release of several titles in the Quantum Series (1 to 4) a novelette and a collection of short stories. More
