FAQ’s Answered #4: What Does Being Transgender Bring To My Writing?

Today in a series of replies to FAQ (frequently asked questions) sent to me by fans (and sometimes not so much), I answer the question “What Does Being Transgender Bring To My Writing?

It’s 2019 now, and it’s been 19 years since I started transition and 13 years since I had my final surgeries. As a matter of interest, since I woke up after my “big op” on January 10, 2006, I felt completely natural – and above all, whole and complete! As a result, I sometimes have to stop and think to remember what it was like to have grown up and lived a male life.

FAQ’s Answered #1: Why Do I Write About LGBT People?

I thought it might be nice to post my replies to FAQ (frequently asked questions) on my website, so here goes: Today I answer the question “Why do I write about LGBT people?“, asked by Trina Williams from Cape Town.

I write sci-fi stories, and over the years, I’ve been occasionally accused of humor – and even wit. Sometimes my work has been rather flatteringly compared to several well-known authors in humor, fantasy and sci-fi – not that it’s ever gone to my head – one day if my books ever start making me actual money, it might. For now however, I concentrate on telling my stories – and telling others about them.

Unlike any of the authors I’ve been compared to however, I write stories that feature LGBT characters in a positive, affirming light. Some of my main characters are like me – in one or more times in my own life – lesbian, gay, bi, or transgender. One of those characters is even a plant – and another is a talking cat – not that I am or have been one of those before, but oh well, now you can see what I mean by humor!
The question I’m going to explore with you today is “Why“?

Panic! Horror In Space – A Voyage Of Terrifying Misadventure!

About “Panic! Horror In Space” by Christina Engela – a sci-fi-horror series.

Panic! Horror In Space‘ is a series of science-fiction-horror stories featuring regular characters, with the occasional introduction of new characters or settings. The premise of the concept was to create a horror-sci-fi story in a series of connected short fiction installments.

While on an otherwise routine deep-space mission to chart new territory on the frontier of unknown space, the Pioneer Fleet starship Mercury is probably the unluckiest ship in history. Not once, not twice, but many times over, the same hapless crew – give or take a few dozen casualties – on a supposed voyage of deep space exploration, stumble into the weird, wake the creepy and trip over the downright terrifying and possibly even supernatural… More

New Release: “High Steaks” Quantum #6

Newly released on this morning, 1 June 2017, is my 12th completed, published novel, “High Steaks” – which is book 6 in the Quantum Series! After a gap of many years between book 4 “Loderunner” (2007) and book 5 “Prodigal Sun” released in February 2017, it’s been a privilege (and a heck of a lot of fun) to continue the adventures of characters I created and grew very fond of back in 2003!

High Steaks” continues a new adventure begun in the previous book “Prodigal Sun”, and introduces fascinating new characters as well as expanding on many different detail aspects of the quaint Terran colony of Deanna!

“Loderunner” – A Spotlight

Loderunner” is the fourth book in the the Quantum Series by Christina Engela.

Set after the third book (‘Dead Man’s Hammer’) ‘Loderunner’ introduces new characters and a whole new adventure starting on the by now familiar Terran colony world of Deanna. Leading characters the reader may be familiar with from previous titles, such as Gary Beck, play cameo and supporting roles in ‘Loderunner’. The lead in this story is a struggling private investigator by the name of Timaset Skooch, who at the start of the story wins a small pile of loot …in a game of Uno. Part of the pot turns out to be a decrepit old cargo space ship called the Celeste (any alarms going off yet?) which Skooch decides to take out on a voyage with its eccentric and dysfunctional crew across the remotest reaches of Terran space to seek their fortune in the ultimate get-rich-quick scheme. Just An Update

Hi there friends! As I’ve mentioned in my newsletters, I’ve been working on some old short stories I wrote while in high school. That was a good 26 years ago now since I finished up there – and more for some of them, since they were written between 1987 and 1989! Here’s a quick update on my progress, and a little news on a few other matters! More
