“Black Sunrise” – New Release As An Audiobook!

I’m extremely pleased to announce that book 1 in the Quantum Series, “Black Sunrise” has just been made available on Audible as an audiobook! Released through Moon Books Publishing and narrated by Darla Middlebrook, the audiobook version is 7 hrs and 17 mins long. If the reaction of the narrator is anything to go by, readers/listeners are bound to be in for a treat!

What’s The Story About?

‘Black Sunrise‘ is a sci-fi story set in the distant future. Cindy-Mei Winter, a former Colonial Intelligence Agency agent who arrives on a Terran colony world called Deanna looking for her own little share of happiness. As a transgender woman, Mei has much in her past she would prefer to forget and write off to having happened to someone else, not her – and wants to start over in life. Unfortunately, the universe isn’t known for its consideration and doesn’t work that way. Only a few hours after her arrival at a holiday resort on the outskirts of Atro City, a hostile alien ship arrives with the ambitious intention to invade the small backwater Terran colony, and all her plans go out the window!

With Atro City under attack, Mei finds herself torn in different directions. Should she just stand back and let the whole mess unfold around her and not get involved? Or should she give in to her desire to redeem herself in the eyes of her former colleagues at the Agency? What should she do? She makes her choice, slips on a skin-tight black lycra outfit, unpacks her blaster, and heads out in the night to meet the aliens at the spaceport… but she’s not alone. Deanna being the unique place it is, virtually the entire populace of the city is on their way to the spaceport as well, grabbing anything resembling a weapon on the way out the door, determined to speak to someone about a disturbance of the peace!

For the aliens mounting the impromptu invasion, things don’t turn out quite the way they had in mind. For one thing, people about to be conquered by the terrifying Ruminarii didn’t usually turn up in droves, heavily armed, to meet them head-on! After the skirmish at the space port, just one surviving invader escapes into the wilderness, and determined to save face, Cindy-Mei sets out to track him down. To assist her in this task, she enlists the help of one Gary Beck, aka Beck the Badfeller – whose reputation as a bounty hunter on Deanna insists that he is ‘so good he could find the missing day in a leap-year!’ Beck as it turns out, is not as bad as his name makes him out to be, and over the course of their quest, during which they must overcome numerous obstacles together – they become more than ‘just friends’. But what does the future hold for Cindy-Mei Winter and Gary Beck?

Known for her Galaxii Series, the first title in her new Quantum Series, “Black Sunrise“, introduces a whole new set of lifelike, realistic characters including Cindy-Mei Winter, Beck the Badfeller, Sheriff Peg, the Grauffis sisters, the Skeggs Valley Dynamite Fishing Club, and Fred – a walking, talking alien plant with chutzpah and a talent for camouflage, and several discordant starship captains.

If the narrator had a hard time keeping a straight face because she was laughing too hard, then it has to be good!
