Good morning, friends and fans!
Welcome to a “Peek Into My Week”! Here’s a look at some of my latest news: October 17, 2022!
Here are some things that happened in my life this past week:
News About Writing & Publishing: This Is The Current State Of Things
This past week was pretty much status quo – or “nominal” to use a sci-fi term. It was a slow week overall, busy with work – and writing this time! First, the current status quo on various ongoing issues affecting my writing or publishing:
- Outstanding royalties: These are royalties earned between January 2022 and the present, which have remained unpaid due to the death of Brandon Mullins at Moon Books Publishing. At the latest report sometime in July, Elizabeth, his widow, is still working on tracing the accounts involved as she shuts down MBP. I have received no updates on this yet in the last few months.
- Audiobooks on ACX: Elizabeth is negotiating with ACX to transfer the existing audiobooks with Moon Books Publishing to their authors ACX accounts. At latest update on 12 October, this is apparently quite a lengthy process and ACX is apparently busy with it – but I still have no idea how they will treat my audiobooks specifically as yet, due to ACX’s bizarre failure to accept South African writers, which is why I needed Brandon as a middle-man in the first place.
- Audiobooks on Spoken Realms: Darla Middlebrook, narrator of the Quantum Series is currently still working on figuring out the proprietary software of this platform in order to upload the first audiobook of the Panic! Horror In Space series. At her latest report during the weekend, she is making progress and book 1 “Static” might be going up soon!
I will keep you updated.
In spite of various distractions, I still managed to post a new article FYI:
Have a look at this article if you’d like to find out some behind the scenes stuff related to the Galaxii series. I put a lot into it.
As you may recall, when Moon Books Publishing folded after Brandon’s death, they took all my books down from their KDP account and I had to put them all up again. A few months ago I managed to republish all of mine again via my own KDP account, but hadn’t yet got round to restoring books I’d edited for my parents. On Friday and Saturday I also finally republished both my mom’s poetry books, and my dad’s three completed books on KDP:
- Op Vreemde Weë by Yvonne Lorraine Engela
- When Day Is Done by Yvonne Lorraine Engela
- African Assignment by Theo Engela
- A Way Of Life by Theo Engela
- Shakandazu Valley by Theo Engela
If you recall, I have mentioned a few times previously that I’d edited all of these items myself. They’re now available in eBook format; I’ll try to get round to putting up the paperback versions soon.
I also managed to do quite a lot of writing during the past week – “Underground Movement” Book 7 in Quantum is now at over 37,000 words thus far – from where I picked up at 29,000 on Monday! At this rate it could be out by Xmas!
That’s all for this week!
With that, I’m all out of news. As always, I’ll keep you posted about any further developments.
