Christina Engela’s Monthly Newsletter: #85 February 2024

Hello, friends and fans!

Welcome to my 85th monthly newsletter – for news, writing & publishing updates & reviews! Pull up a chair, let’s chat! Let’s take a look at this month’s “stuff”!

This time I have news about my new line of tech videos! More about that a little later. First,

Some General News

It’s February and to employ a gaming term, I ‘leveled up’ again yesterday. 51 years is quite an achievement I think, especially to still be in such good condition! Since my birthday lost everything that was special about it when my mother died back in 2013, and after a lot of my friends either moved away, stopped being my friends, or died in the meantime, marking the day has become something like getting and eating a cake just to celebrate not being dead yet by myself.

But that aside, most of all, it’s satisfying to think that even just by continuing to exist for another year, I’m curdling a lot of hater’s dairy products and giving them reason to continue wearing those sour expressions we all know and love!

That said, I go back to work on Monday after a whole month on vacation, and while I’m really not looking forward to it (who in their right mind does?!) it’s a necessary evil I suppose, just to be allowed to continue to survive in this gilded, narcissism-ridden crapitalist cage we humans have made for ourselves. Oh well, off to work I go – I owe, I owe, I owe, right? Just another 14 years of grinding to go to retirement. Maybe less – who knows?

During my holiday I got up to various things, not the least of which was abandoning my camera and microphone shyness, and got around to making some videos for my YouTube channel. I’m done cringing about my appearance and my voice. It is what it is. After all, I had my modeling figure days. Now I’m 51 – a bit overweight, in my head my voice sounds like I should audition for Torch Song Trilogy, and I’ve got to the point where I don’t give a fuck what anyone thinks about any of that.

The fact is, regardless of all of the above, I’m still able to do a lot of things most other people could or would never do, so rather than sit in a dark little corner keeping to myself, popping antidepressants and pining for the way my life used to be, I’m going to just make the best of it.

If you want to come along for the ride, welcome. If not, well, so be it.

Moving on to other matters:

Publishing

It being the very start of the new year, I’ve been on vacation and haven’t actually started work on any of my new projects yet! I will soon, don’t worry! In the meantime, here’s all my books that are already available:

My bibliography currently contains 46 published books, a few out of print by now, but mostly you can find them at:

and my shop page on .

Coming Soon:

A new upcoming anthology “The Science Fiction Novelists 2024 SciFI Anthology” will contain two of my short stories (“The Storming Of Area 51” and “It Happened In Late October”) and will be released on 20 February! Here’s an early look at the cover below:
During January I also received an invitation from fellow indie author Lu Evans to contribute a short story to an upcoming anthology which will be made available in several languages (which implies translation!) including English, Spanish and Portuguese under the title “Cidades Inversas”! I sent her “It Happened In Late October”, and I’d show you the cover which she gave me a sneak peek at – but it’s still “secret”, so I unfortunately I cant yet! As soon as this anthology comes out as well, I’ll also be sure to let you know!

Currently Available Titles:

My books are available as eBooksPaperbacks, and in many cases also as Audiobooks, and you can find them just about everywhere. Click the links in the slideshow below to view titles available in these formats.

If you’re still wondering where to find them in the format of your choice, you should read “Where To Get My Books” (recently updated).

It’s the end of the year again, so I updated “Portfolio” – my free downloadable brochure featuring all my current books. You can download it from the Downloads page, or just by clicking the cover below:

What The Readers Say:

I know I can’t please everybody (so I’m not trying to!). That said, it really pleases me when I see that I’ve managed to do it anyway! Drop me a line and let me know how you think I’m doing – or leave me a review on Amazon or Audible!

You can see all my reader comments here.

Videos:

You’re welcome to browse through the videos on my YouTube video channel! I’m not really the performing seal type, but I do my best! There’s also a 13 minute animated movie on there, called “Bang, Splat!“, based on characters and settings from “The Time Saving Agency“. I also made a video of my dad Theo Engela‘s dramatized-for-radio short story “Assignment“.

I’ve also started producing tech videos in a series I called “Tina Talks Tech“! They’re under separate playlists on my channel.

Other Stuff:

Tina Talks Tech

During my holiday I dived into the world of YouTube video making! “Tina Talks Tech” is a series of PC-related videos on my YouTube  channel, and I made and posted three videos already in January. Drop by and give these videos a watch and a ‘like’ and subscribe if you haven’t done so already! Feel free to let me know what topics you’d like me to address in my videos!

Now yes, you’re right – I am primarily a writer, so what are these videos really about anyway, and why am I using my writing platform to promote them? It’s simple – this is the sci-fi future we were waiting for. People aren’t limited to one thing – they can make videos of themselves doing anything they want and put the up in public view (YouTube) where anyone can watch them for their own entertainment. In terms of brand-building, while I’m making videos about computers and tech (things I’m really interested in and always have been), this will in turn draw traffic to my YouTube channel, and in turn (hopefully) to my books. At least that’s the theory. But in the meantime, I do enjoy making the videos – and instead of creating a separate channel for the tech stuff, I simply created separate playlists for them on the same channel I’ve been using all along.

I will likely get around to doing some book or writing-related videos in future too, because I think I really need to!

In Closing

Thanks again for all your support, sharing, friendship and interaction during this very trying – and utterly bizarre year!

As always, feel free to email or message me via Facebook if you have any comments or questions!

Until next time, keep reading!

Cheers!

In spite of some of my books having been on Amazon since 2005, not one of them has yet reached the magical figure of 50 reviews! I would really appreciate your help in getting there!

Come on, leave a review – it’s free!
