Christina Engela’s Monthly Newsletter: #82 November 2023

Hello, friends and fans!

Welcome to my 82nd monthly newsletter – for news, writing & publishing updates & reviews! Pull up a chair, let’s chat! Let’s take a look at this month’s “stuff”!

This time I have news about an audiobook release for you, and some new reader’s reviews as well – but more about that a little later. First,

Some General News

Octoberwow! What else can I say about a month in which the world was yet again dragged by the short and curlies to the precipice of another damned filthy world war – and yet another Holocaust, this time in Gaza? Were I reading this aloud to you right now, you should imagine the pitch of my voice rising several octaves in horrified fascination and disbelief!

The kind of saber-rattling jingoistic line-drawing nonsense that led to this is exactly why I reduced my intake of so-called “news” and “media” in the first place – for the purposes of preserving my sanity and mental health from land-mass-sized portions of lies, damned lies and propaganda – so, while the rest of the world inched nearer towards the abyss over various ‘isms’, I withdrew deeper into my refuge of writing – and was remarkably productive.

The result of that is, I’m happy to say, that my new book Freedom Inc” (the first book in my new sci-fi adventure series “Threaders“) is now already past 74,800 words!I’m aiming to finish it at around 100,000 words minimum, so the end is very much in sight now – but it’s possible that it could be a little more. I’ll see how it goes and will, as always, let you know what happens next!

Moving on to other matters:

I have no new interviews to show you this time, but all my interviews are linked to from this page.

What The Readers Say:

All my reader comments are linked to from this page.

I received the following reader’s reviews this past month:

Now That’s What I Call Style

Now that’s what I call style. First, it’s extremely visual, it’s funny, it’s over-the-top, and the reader gets caught up in the slapstick and outrageous characterizations. It’s not tedious and by the numbers like so much genre fiction, it’s fun, and effortless. Extra points for assonance, alliteration and onomatopoeia. Also, kudos for a consistent point of view and reminds me of a cross between Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Doctor Who, Monty Python.” – Alex S. Johnson, October 26, 2023. (Response to a share of an excerpt from the upcoming Threaders book, “Freedom Inc.“)

Likable Series

“This was the second book of this series I read and a quick fun read. My only complaint was in the ending which exemplifies why I generally avoid stories with elements of time travel. Still, happy I read it.” – CKing, for “Dead Man’s Hammer“, October 21, 2023.

Videos:

You’re welcome to browse through the videos on my YouTube video channel! I’m not really the performing seal type, but I do my best! There’s also a 13 minute animated movie on there, called “Bang, Splat!“, based on characters and settings from “The Time Saving Agency“.

In Memoriam

On 24 October 2023, I shared the following post on my social media:

Today is the tenth anniversary of the worst day of my life.

On 24 October 2013, at 1730, my dear mother Yvonne Engela died.

I still can’t believe it’s been that long, because it still hurts like it happened yesterday.

In memoriam.

In Closing

Thanks again for all your support, sharing, friendship and interaction!

As always, feel free to email or message me via Facebook if you have any comments or questions!

Until next time, keep reading!

Cheers!

In spite of some of my books having been on Amazon since 2005, not one of them has yet reached 50 reviews! I would really appreciate your help on this!

Come on, leave a review – it’s free!
